Mares

HABSBURG MARES

Were for many years the only performed purebred females in the country. They were trained for one day events, single, pair and four in hand driving. On occasion, they were also ridden side-saddle.

In recent years the owners of mares in Australia have been out competing to demonstrate that “mares can do it”.

170 Tural

DOB 23/9/84

Bred by Mr. K. Keves, South Australia.

By Siglavy Flora-1-75 Piber Austria out of Neapolitano XIX – 2 (imp Hungary)

Tural is a quiet saddle trained mare, passing onto her stock her wonderful tractability and trainability.

Typical of the Siglavy line in Australia, she has excellent extension in her movement.

Of her three foals, two were exported to New Zealand, with one filly being retained by Habsburg for breeding.

This mare will be bred to Conversano Allegra V in 2006.

216 Trieste

DOB 20/9/01

Bred by L. Krutzler Habsburg South Australia

By Conversano Juliana III (imp USA), out of 170 Tural.

“Tess” as she is known, has her dam’s lovely quiet nature.

A mare with huge ability for many disciplines, she is trained to harness and has yet to undergo saddle training.

2006 will be her first season at stud and will be bred to Conversano Allegra V.

49 Modena

DOB 20/11/83

Bred by the late Mr. Geoff Adcock, Ravenswood Stud South Australia.

By 1 Favory Gaeta I iid Lipica Slovenia, out of 13 Monterosa

Modena is possibly one of the finest examples of a traditional Austrian Baroque Lipizzaner in Australia. Her near flawless conformation elevated movement and classical appearance makes her a sought after type for breeding.

Modena will be bred to Conversano Allegra V.

211 Bekescaba

DOB 9/2/01

Bred by A. Schmidt

By 100 Favory Nepolitano I, out of 114 Bonita.

This lovely young mare is very attractive and classical in type.

“Bec,” as she is known, possesses lovely expression in her movement, which is extended yet elevated and rhythmical. She has undergone some basic education and is being covered in 2006 for her second foal, with her first being exported to New Zealand.

Bec’s first foal really has that “wow” factor being sired by the much sought after 43 Siglavy Monteaura IV.  Bec will be bred to Conversana Allegra.

178 Grace

DOB 25/12/01

By 43 Siglavy Monteura IV out of 19 Gaetana.

Bred by Christine Piotrowski, Landau Park South Australia.

This mare is strong in type and of lovely classical appearance.

She is very correct and like her sire is excellent at a ground-covering trot with a huge expressive stride.

Grace has had her first foal in December 2006 to the newly imported 224 Conversano Allegra V. This is also his first foal in Australia.
